The State Board of Education shall adopt a social studies\n\ncore curriculum with courses of instruction for all students\n\nenrolled in the public schools that reflect the racial, ethnic,\n\nreligious, and cultural diversity of the United States of America.\n\nThe United States history and Oklahoma history components required\n\nin the social studies curriculum for all students shall include, but\n\nnot be limited to, African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanic\n\nAmericans. The United States history component required in the\n\nsocial studies curriculum for all students shall include information\n\nabout Juneteenth commemorating emancipation of enslaved African\n\nAmericans.\n\nB. The State Textbook Committee, when adopting textbooks, shall\n\nincorporate the provisions of subsection A of this section into the\n\ncriteria used to evaluate United States history and Oklahoma history\n\ntextbooks. Any United States history or Oklahoma history textbook\n\non the state adopted textbook list shall conform to the purposes of\n\nthis section. The State Textbook Committee shall ensure that all\n\nsocial studies textbooks and supplementary materials selected to be\n\npurchased with state funds for use in Oklahoma classrooms reflect\n\nthe racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity of the United\n\nStates.\n\nC. It is the intent of the Legislature that a portion of the\n\nstate funds appropriated for professional development in local\n\nschool districts be used for workshops, seminars, guest lecturers,\n\nand other methods which further the purposes of this section.\n\nD. As used in this section, \"curriculum\" means the subject\n\nmatter standards adopted by the State Board of Education pursuant to\n\nSection 11-103.6 of this title.
