Stat. tit. 70, § 70-11-103.6n","heading":"Professional learning opportunities for computer","body":"science courses – Grant program.\n\nA. Subject to the availability of funds, One Million Dollars\n\n($1,000,000.00) shall be allocated by the State Board of Education\n\nto develop and implement high quality professional learning\n\nopportunities for computer science courses that align to the\n\nOklahoma Academic Standards for Computer Science and align to the\n\nrubric developed by the State Department of Education for quality\n\ncomputer science programs pursuant to Section 1 of this act.\n\nB. The State Department of Education may create a grant program\n\nfor the purpose of providing professional learning opportunities.\n\nEntities eligible to receive grant funds shall include but not be\n\nlimited to:\n\n1. A school district or a consortium of school districts; and\n\n2. High-quality computer science professional learning\n\nproviders including institutions within The Oklahoma State System of\n\nHigher Education, technology center schools overseen by the Oklahoma\n\nState Board of Career and Technology Education, non-profit\n\norganizations or private entities.\n\nC. Grant funds shall be used by grantees for:\n\n1. High-quality professional learning for kindergarten through\n\ntwelfth grade computer science content including travel to\n\nworkshops;\n\n2. Credentialing for kindergarten through twelfth grade\n\ncomputer science teachers including career and technology education\n\nendorsements and academic supplemental endorsements;\n\n3. Supports for kindergarten through twelfth grade computer\n\nscience professional learning including mentoring and coaching;\n\n4. Creation of instructional resources to support\n\nimplementation including integrated curricular resources; and\n\n5. Developing or redesigning computer science resources that\n\nare aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Computer\n\nScience.\n\nUp to ten percent (10%) of grant funds may be used to study the\n\neffectiveness of professional learning, curricula or other\n\ninitiatives provided for in this subsection.\n\nD. A grantee may use grant funds to purchase technology\n\nincluding software, hardware or infrastructure, provided it is\n\ndirectly connected to the grantee's ability to implement a quality\n\ncomputer science program as defined by the rubric required by\n\nSection 1 of this act. To use grant funds for technology, a grantee\n\nshall specify in the grant application the amount of funds to be\n\nused for technology and the items to be purchased.\n\nE. The State Department of Education shall prioritize the\n\nfollowing grant applications:\n\n1. School districts that are working in partnership with\n\nproviders of high-quality professional learning for kindergarten\n\nthrough twelfth grade computer science;\n\n2. Proposals that describe strategies to enroll underserved\n\npopulations of students; and\n\n3. Proposals from rural or urban areas with low penetration of\n\nkindergarten through twelfth grade computer science offerings\n\nincluding school districts that partner together to form clusters of\n\nimplementation.\n\nF.
