All curriculum and materials including supplementary\n\nmaterials which will be used to teach or will be used for or in\n\nconnection with a sex education class or program which is designed\n\nfor the exclusive purpose of discussing sexual behavior or\n\nattitudes, or any test, survey or questionnaire whose primary\n\npurpose is to elicit responses on sexual behavior or attitudes shall\n\nbe available through the superintendent or a designee of the school\n\ndistrict for inspection by parents and guardians of the student who\n\nwill be involved with the class, program or test, survey or\n\nquestionnaire. Such curriculum, materials, classes, programs,\n\ntests, surveys or questionnaires shall include information about\n\nconsent and shall have as one of its primary purposes the teaching\n\nof or informing students about the practice of abstinence. For the\n\npurposes of this section, \"consent\" shall have the same meaning as\n\nthat provided by Section 113 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nThe superintendent or a designee of the school district shall\n\nprovide prior written notification to the parents or guardians of\n\nthe students involved of their right to inspect the curriculum and\n\nmaterial and of their obligation to notify the school in writing if\n\nthey do not want their child to participate in the class, program,\n\ntest, survey or questionnaire. Each local board of education shall\n\ndetermine the means of providing written notification to the parents\n\nand guardian which will ensure effective notice in an efficient and\n\nappropriate manner. No student shall be required to participate in\n\na sex education class or program which discusses sexual behavior or\n\nattitudes if a parent or guardian of the student objects in writing\n\nto such participation. If the type of program referred to in this\n\nsection is a part of or is taught during a credit course, a student\n\nmay be required to enroll in the course but shall not be required to\n\nreceive instruction in or participate in the program if a parent or\n\nguardian objects in writing.\n\nB. The superintendent or a designee of a school district in\n\nwhich sex education is taught or a program is offered which is\n\ndesigned for the exclusive purpose of discussing sexual behavior or\n\nattitudes shall approve all curriculum and materials which will be\n\nused for such education and any test, survey or questionnaire whose\n\nprimary purpose is to elicit responses on sexual behavior or\n\nattitudes used in the school prior to their use in the classroom or\n\nschool. The teacher involved in the class, program, testing or\n\nsurvey shall submit the curriculum, materials, tests or surveys to\n\nthe superintendent or a designee for approval prior to their use in\n\nthe classroom or school.
