Beginning with students entering the ninth grade in the\n\n2006-2007 school year, all students shall complete the following\n\ncollege preparatory curricular requirements:\n\n1. Four units of English to include Grammar, Composition,\n\nLiterature, or any English course approved for college admission\n\nrequirements;\n\n2. Three units of laboratory science, limited to Biology,\n\nChemistry, Physics, or any laboratory science course with content\n\nand/or rigor equal to or above Biology and approved for college\n\nadmission requirements;\n\n3. Three units of mathematics, limited to Algebra I, Algebra\n\nII, Geometry, Trigonometry, Math Analysis, Calculus, Advanced\n\nPlacement Statistics, or any mathematics course with content and/or\n\nrigor above Algebra I and approved for college admission\n\nrequirements;\n\n4. Three units of history and citizenship skills, including one\n\nunit of American History and two units from the subjects of History,\n\nGovernment, Geography, Economics, Civics, or Non-Western culture;\n\n5. Two units of the same foreign or non-English language or two\n\nunits of computer technology approved for college admission\n\nrequirements, whether taught at a high school or a technology center\n\nschool, including computer programming, hardware, and business\n\ncomputer applications such as word processing, databases,\n\nspreadsheets, and graphics, excluding keyboarding or typing courses;\n\n6. One additional unit selected from paragraphs 1 through 5 of\n\nthis subsection or career and technology education courses approved\n\nfor college admission requirements; and\n\n7. One unit or set of competencies of fine arts, such as music,\n\nart, or drama, or one unit of speech.\n\nB. A student may enroll in a curriculum that does not meet the\n\nrequirements of subsection A of this section upon approval of the\n\nparent or legal guardian of the student. School districts may\n\nrequire a parent or legal guardian of the student to meet with a\n\ndesignee of the school prior to enrollment in such a curriculum.\n\nThe State Department of Education shall develop and distribute to\n\nschool districts a form suitable for this purpose which shall\n\ninclude information on the benefits to students of completing the\n\ncollege preparatory curriculum required pursuant to this section.\n\nC. The State Department of Education shall collect and report\n\ndata by school site and district on the number of students whose\n\nparents or legal guardians approve enrollment in other than the\n\ncollege preparatory curriculum required pursuant to this section.\n\nD. Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, in order to\n\ngraduate from a public high school accredited by the State Board of\n\nEducation with a standard diploma, students shall continue to be\n\nsubject to the curricular requirements established pursuant to\n\nSection 11-103.6 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nE.
