All public schools may establish an abuse-prevention\n\ninstructional program for students, consistent with this section.\n\nThe content of instruction shall be at the discretion of the school\n\nboard; provided, that the instructional program shall:\n\n1. Provide developmental and age-appropriate curriculum to\n\nteach children risk-reduction strategies including, but not limited\n\nto:\n\na. how to identify dangerous situations,\n\nb. personal boundary violations,\n\nc. how to refuse approaches and invitations,\n\nd. how to summon help, and\n\ne. what to do if abuse occurs;\n\n2. Be offered annually to reinforce and build on skills learned\n\nthe previous year;\n\n3. Involve students as active learning participants;\n\n4. Have the capacity to be delivered by a wide range of\n\npersonnel including teachers, school counselors, prevention agency\n\neducators, and other professionals;\n\n5. Include evidence-informed curriculum;\n\n6. Include an evaluation component that utilizes a pre- and\n\npost-program surveys or testing of the students to measure the\n\nacquisition of the lessons taught;\n\n7. Provide instruction that is culturally sensitive and\n\nadaptable; and\n\n8. Encourage parental involvement within the abuse prevention\n\nprogram to include, but not be limited to, information on child\n\nabuse prevention, risk-reduction techniques, abuse reporting, and\n\nsupport service availability.\n\nB. Pursuant to the Parents' Bill of Rights, Section 2001 et\n\nseq. of Title 25 of the Oklahoma Statutes, no student shall be\n\nrequired to participate in an abuse-prevention instructional\n\nprogram.
