Stat. tit. 70, § 70-1210.171","heading":"Appropriate education for deaf or hard of hearing","body":"children.\n\nA. It shall be the right of every child who is deaf or so hard\n\nof hearing that he cannot participate in the regular public school\n\nprogram to receive an appropriate education at the expense of the\n\nState of Oklahoma. It shall be the duty of every school district to\n\nseek out and identify every such child between the ages of two (2)\n\nand twenty-one (21) years at the earliest possible age under\n\nprocedures to be prescribed by regulations of the State Department\n\nof Education. It shall be the duty of every parent or other person\n\nhaving custody of such child to cause such child to be enrolled in\n\nand attend a school which provides special education for such deaf\n\nchildren.\n\nB. The State Department of Education may establish educational\n\nprograms for preschool deaf and hard-of-hearing children by regional\n\neducation service centers. Such programs shall serve preschool deaf\n\nand hard-of-hearing children from the age the hearing impairment is\n\ndetected by a licensed physician or audiologist.
