The State Department of Education, in coordination with any\n\nother entity the Department deems appropriate, shall develop type 1\n\ndiabetes informational materials for parents and guardians of\n\nstudents. The informational materials shall undergo periodic\n\nupdates as necessary and shall be made available to each school\n\ndistrict and charter school through the Department's website.\n\nB. Beginning August 1, 2024, the school district board of\n\neducation and governing board of a charter school shall make copies\n\nof the type 1 diabetes informational materials accessible, either\n\ndigitally or with printed materials, to the parent or guardian of a\n\nstudent when the student is initially enrolled in the school and\n\nwhen the student enters sixth grade.\n\nC. The type 1 diabetes informational materials may include, but\n\nnot be limited to, the following:\n\n1. A description of type 1 diabetes;\n\n2. A description of the risk factors and warning signs\n\nassociated with type 1 diabetes;\n\n3. A recommendation for students who display warning signs\n\nassociated with type 1 diabetes that the parent or guardian should\n\nimmediately consult with the student's primary care provider to\n\ndetermine if immediate screening for type 1 diabetes is appropriate;\n\n4. A description of the screening process for type 1 diabetes,\n\nthe significance of its stages, and the implications of test results\n\nidentifying the presence of each stage of type 1 diabetes; and\n\n5. A recommendation that, following a type 1 diabetes\n\ndiagnosis, the parent or guardian should consult with the student's\n\nprimary care provider to develop an appropriate treatment plan,\n\nwhich may include consultation with and examination by a specialty\n\ncare provider, such as a properly qualified endocrinologist.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"8ef1af7a81a1e09efdb83a31454328c16f998c4b75ba534a2af2ce8dfdd29e31","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.195","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.196.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
