The school nurse at each school in which a student with\n\ndiabetes is enrolled shall assist the student with the management of\n\ntheir diabetes care as provided for in the diabetes medical\n\nmanagement plan for the student.\n\nB. If a school does not have a school nurse assigned to the\n\nschool, the principal shall make an effort to seek school employees\n\nwho may or may not be health care professionals to serve as\n\nvolunteer diabetes care assistants to assist the student with the\n\nmanagement of their diabetes care as provided for in the diabetes\n\nmedical management plan for the student.\n\nC. Each school in which a student with diabetes is enrolled\n\nshall make an effort to ensure that a school nurse or a volunteer\n\ndiabetes care assistant is available at the school to assist the\n\ndiabetic student when needed.\n\nD. A school employee shall not be subject to any penalty or\n\ndisciplinary action for refusing to serve as a volunteer diabetes\n\ncare assistant.\n\nE. A school district shall not restrict the assignment of a\n\nstudent with diabetes to a particular school site based on the\n\npresence of a school nurse, contract school employee, or a volunteer\n\ndiabetes care assistant.\n\nF. Each school nurse and volunteer diabetes care assistant\n\nshall at all times have access to a physician.\n\nG.
