Stat. tit. 70, § 70-1210.229-2","heading":"Legislative findings and intent","body":"The Legislature finds that for the purpose of preventing drug\n\nand alcohol abuse among our young people, and for preventing or\n\nalleviating problems which lead to and are closely associated with\n\ndrug and alcohol abuse, it is desirable that all Oklahoma school\n\ndistricts develop and implement a curriculum for drug and alcohol\n\nabuse prevention for all grade levels. Such curriculum may include\n\ntraining in life skills, such as problem-solving, responsibility,\n\ncommunication and decision-making skills, which enable young people\n\nto successfully resist social and other pressures to engage in\n\nactivities which are destructive to their health and future. The\n\nLegislature encourages all school districts to adopt as a goal for\n\nthe year 1990 the full implementation of drug and alcohol abuse\n\nprevention programs in their schools. In order to expand and\n\nenhance the ability of school districts to implement drug and\n\nalcohol prevention programs, it is the intent of the Legislature\n\nthat local school districts participate in the federal Drug-Free\n\nSchools and Communities Act of 1986, 20 A.S.C., Section 4601 et seq.\n\nand the provisions of Public Law No. 101-647, Drug-Free School\n\nZones.\n\nIn order to derive maximum benefit from their drug and alcohol\n\nprevention programs, it is further the intent of the Legislature\n\nthat the school districts coordinate their efforts and activities\n\nwith the Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy Board, and with\n\nappropriate state and local drug and alcohol abuse, health and law\n\nenforcement agencies and programs within the community which provide\n\ndrug education, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.\n\nIt is further the intent of the Legislature to encourage school\n\ndistricts to establish programs concerning the danger and criminal\n\nconsequences of the possession and/or use of firearms or other\n\ndangerous or deadly weapons in school zones.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"84e04a48014997fe2659e5ed6ea2e51210dfae8adde2dc77b27aafb6e641bc2b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.229-1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.229-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
