It is the intent of the Legislature that children residing\n\nin this state understand the seriousness of conviction for criminal\n\nbehavior and the resulting punishment. The purpose of visits to\n\ncorrectional institutions provided for herein shall be to\n\ndemonstrate to pupils the harmful effects of incarceration on the\n\nlife of an inmate.\n\nB. Public school districts may provide for at least one visit\n\nper school year for pupils in the eighth grade or a higher grade to\n\na state correctional institution. Transportation shall be provided\n\npursuant to Section 9-108 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
