The Legislature recognizes that many students are dealing\n\nwith family and societal issues that make it difficult or impossible\n\nfor them to be successful students. Among other school-based\n\ncounseling programs, designated youth services agencies provide\n\ncounseling for those students. To assure the quality and\n\navailability of the counseling services, the Legislature finds that\n\nit is desirable that school districts have access to individual and\n\ngroup counseling using an evidence-based counseling curriculum to\n\nprevent self-defeating, destructive or disruptive behavior. The\n\ncurriculum may include training in problem solving, anger\n\nmanagement, grief counseling, responsibility, communication and\n\ndecision-making skills.\n\nB. In order to assure the ability of school districts to give\n\ntheir students the best opportunity for academic and personal\n\nsuccess, subject to the availability of funds, the Office of\n\nJuvenile Affairs, together with the Oklahoma Association of Youth\n\nServices, shall identify an evidence-based counseling curriculum.\n\nSubject to the availability of funds, the Office of Juvenile\n\nAffairs, through designated youth services agencies, shall make the\n\nidentified evidence-based counseling available to students in school\n\ndistricts.\n\nC.
