Stat. tit. 70, § 70-1210.272","heading":"Purpose","body":"The purposes of the Regional Education Service Center Act are:\n\n1. To expand the services of the Regional Education Service\n\nCenters, personnel, and certain selected material to ensure that\n\nstudents with learning difficulty or exceptional capability which\n\nshall include any gifted child will receive proper screening,\n\ndiagnosis, and evaluation or consultation in order to benefit from\n\nan appropriate public education;\n\n2. To provide an educational screening program for students in\n\nevery school district in the state and services to assist in the\n\nidentification, location and evaluation of children with\n\ndisabilities who are in need of special education and related\n\nservices in accordance with the IDEA; and\n\n3. To provide Regional Education Service Centers to assist and\n\ncoordinate with local educational agencies for educational\n\nevaluation and in meeting their obligations for child identification\n\nin accordance with federal requirements under the IDEA.\n\nIt is not the intent of the Regional Education Service Center\n\nAct to supplant present or future special education appropriations\n\nor to reduce the number of present or proposed special education\n\nclasses.\n\nIt is intended by the Regional Education Service Center Act that\n\nthe State of Oklahoma meet its responsibility to ensure that every\n\nstudent in the public schools throughout the state has the\n\nopportunity to receive an appropriate education for the benefit of\n\nhis future life in society.\n\nIt is further intended by the Regional Education Service Center\n\nAct that guidelines shall be promulgated to permit curriculum\n\nmaterials to be utilized by the student's teacher for such period of\n\ntime as is necessary to assist said student during the school year.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2dbde49edd2c3879ff2dec0a321012f90db81a4fc91bee96551d88c14e3f1c2b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.271","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.273"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
