For the purpose of meeting the duty of each school district\n\nas set forth in Section 1210.307 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes, each district board of education shall create a local\n\nadvisory committee on education for gifted and talented children or\n\nexpand the duties of a curriculum advisory committee for the\n\ndistrict to assist the district on gifted and talented programs. If\n\nthe district creates a local advisory committee for gifted and\n\ntalented children it shall consist of at least three but no more\n\nthan eleven members. The district board shall appoint all members,\n\nat least one-third (1/3) of whom shall be selected from a list of\n\nnominations submitted by associations whose purpose is advocacy for\n\ngifted and talented children. The committee shall be broadly\n\nrepresentative of the community. The committee shall be appointed\n\nno later than September 15 of each school year for two-year terms\n\nand shall consist of parents of children identified as gifted and\n\ntalented and community members who may be but are not required to be\n\nparents of students within the district. At the first meeting the\n\ncommittee shall elect a chair and a vice-chair. If the district\n\nutilizes the curriculum advisory committee it shall appoint at least\n\none member who is a parent of a child identified as gifted and\n\ntalented or is a knowledgeable advocate for gifted and talented\n\nchildren.\n\nB. A meeting of the local advisory committee or the curriculum\n\nadvisory committee shall be called by the district superintendent no\n\nlater than October 1 of each year for the purpose of addressing\n\ngifted and talented program issues. The advisory committee or\n\ncurriculum advisory committee may meet at other times during the\n\nyear as is necessary in meeting space furnished by the district.\n\nThe district shall furnish staff for the advisory committee. All\n\nmeetings of the committees shall be subject to the provisions of the\n\nOklahoma Open Meeting Act.\n\nC. The duties of the advisory committee for gifted and talented\n\nchildren or the curriculum advisory committee shall be to assist in\n\nthe formulation of district goals for gifted education, to assist in\n\ndevelopment of the district plan for gifted child educational\n\nprograms, to assist in preparation of the district report on gifted\n\nchild educational programs, and to perform other advisory duties as\n\nmay be requested by the board of education.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"771c9e75203c5328cca310d19b4d797fe53b9b3a213765c4f93192090877ed88","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.307","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-1210.34"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
