The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics shall solicit\n\nproposals and award grants for pilot projects that develop and\n\nestablish model programs implementing advanced science and math\n\ncurriculum at local technology center school sites, local colleges\n\nor universities, or at local school sites via distance learning. At\n\nleast two grants shall be awarded during the 1997-98 school year for\n\nimplementation beginning the fall of 1997. The Oklahoma School of\n\nScience and Mathematics shall determine pilot project criteria. The\n\npilot project proposals shall be considered on a statewide\n\ncompetitive basis.\n\nB. A Selection Committee shall be established to assist the\n\nOklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in selecting sites for\n\nmodel programs. The Selection Committee shall consist of the\n\nfollowing members:\n\n1. The Director of the Oklahoma Department of Career and\n\nTechnology Education or a designee;\n\n2. The Superintendent of Public Instruction or a designee; and\n\n3. The Director of the Oklahoma School of Science and\n\nMathematics or a designee.\n\nC. An Advisory Council shall be established to assist the\n\nOklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in development of the\n\nmodel programs. The Advisory Council shall establish eligibility\n\ncriteria for student participation in the program. The Advisory\n\nCouncil shall have final approval of the curriculum and shall set\n\nacademic standards for the program. The Advisory Council shall\n\nconsist of the following members:\n\n1. A superintendent of a participating local school district\n\nwithin the technology center school district elected by the majority\n\nof the participating superintendents or a designee;\n\n2. The superintendent of a technology center school district\n\nparticipating in the program or a designee; and\n\n3. The Director of the Oklahoma School of Science and\n\nMathematics or a designee.\n\nD. The Advisory Council and participating technology center\n\nschools shall work with the Oklahoma School of Science and\n\nMathematics in determining advanced science and math curriculum\n\nneeds for the area served by the program. A representative from the\n\nAdvisory Council and participating technology center school or\n\nparticipating local school site shall work with a representative\n\nfrom the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics in the\n\nrecruitment and hiring of faculty for the program. Faculty\n\npositions shall be approved by a majority vote of the\n\nrepresentatives from the Advisory Council, technology center school\n\nand the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics.\n\nE. The participating technology center school district shall\n\nprovide transportation for those students attending the program at\n\nthe technology center school site.
