Stat. tit. 70, § 70-13-115.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Educational Interpreter for the Deaf\n\nAct:\n\n1. “Communication mode or language” means one or more of the\n\nfollowing systems or methods of communication applicable to deaf and\n\nhard-of-hearing students:\n\na. American Sign Language,\n\nb. English-based sign systems, or\n\nc. oral, aural, or other speech-based communication;\n\n2. “Educational Interpreter” means a person who possesses a\n\ncombination of interpreting skills for expressing and receiving\n\ninformation in a variety of signed and oral languages and modes;\n\n3. The Oklahoma “Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST)” means\n\na tool used for the comprehensive evaluation of interpreters;\n\n4. “Interpreter Training Program” means a training program in\n\nan accredited college or university for preparing interpreters for\n\nthe deaf;\n\n5. “Work Experience” means a minimum of three (3) years of\n\nfull-time-equivalent work in the field of deaf education; and\n\n6. “Comparable Level of Proficiency” means a comparable level\n\nof proficiency on any other national- or state-recognized\n\neducational interpreter assessment as determined and recognized by\n\nthe State Department of Education.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"96322cd3013eb02afc90e97c22699069c9207725e6e90d678cc73fb4450c9bfb","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-13-115.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-13-115.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
