Stat. tit. 70, § 70-16-104","heading":"Delivery of bids - Examination and investigation -","body":"Adoption of textbook.\n\nAll bids shall be sealed and delivered to the secretary of the\n\nState Textbook Committee, to be delivered by the secretary to the\n\nCommittee for the purpose of considering the bids. The Committee\n\nshall meet prior to August 15 of each year at the time and place\n\nmentioned in the advertisement required by Section 16-103 of this\n\ntitle, to open and examine the sealed bids received, and make a full\n\nand complete investigation of all books and the bids accompanying\n\nthe same. The books shall be selected after careful consideration\n\nof all the books presented, and the books selected for adoption\n\nshall be those which the Committee rates as \"Exemplifies Quality\" or\n\n\"Approaching Quality\" on the rubric pursuant to Section 16-102 of\n\nthis title. The Committee shall give consideration to any\n\nlegislative resolution concerning textbook content and the testimony\n\nreceived at public hearings when making the selections. The\n\nCommittee shall proceed without delay to select, for use of the\n\npublic schools of this state, textbooks as specified in this article\n\nand shall notify publishers to whom contracts are awarded. If the\n\nState Textbook Committee determines that significant inaccuracies\n\nexist in the contents of a textbook which has been bid or that\n\ninformation contained in the textbook is not current, the Committee\n\nmay adopt the book on a provisional basis.
