When determining the minimum salary schedule, \"fringe\n\nbenefits\" shall mean all or part of retirement benefits, excluding\n\nthe contributions made pursuant to subsection A of Section 17-108.1\n\nof this title and the flexible benefit allowance pursuant to Section\n\n26-105 of this title from the flexible benefit allowance funds\n\ndisbursed by the State Board of Education and the State Board of\n\nCareer and Technology Education pursuant to Section 26-104 of this\n\ntitle.\n\n2. If a school district intends to provide retirement benefits\n\nto a teacher such that the teacher's salary would be less than the\n\namounts set forth in the minimum salary schedule specified in\n\nsubsection A of this section, the district shall be required to\n\nprovide written notification to the teacher prior to his or her\n\nemployment or, if already employed by the district, no later than\n\nthirty (30) days prior to the date the district elects to provide\n\nretirement benefits such that the teacher's salary would be less\n\nthan the minimum salary schedule.\n\nC. Any of the degrees referred to in this section shall be from\n\na college recognized by the State Board of Education. The Board\n\nshall accept teaching experience from out-of-state school districts\n\nthat are accredited by the State Board of Education or appropriate\n\nstate accrediting agency for the districts. The Board shall accept\n\nteaching experience from out-of-country schools that are accredited\n\nor otherwise endorsed by the appropriate national or regional\n\naccrediting or endorsement authority. Out-of-country certification\n\ndocumentation in a language other than English shall be analyzed by\n\nan educational credential evaluation service in accordance with\nstate accrediting agency for the districts. The Board shall accept\n\nteaching experience from out-of-country schools that are accredited\n\nor otherwise endorsed by the appropriate national or regional\n\naccrediting or endorsement authority. Out-of-country certification\n\ndocumentation in a language other than English shall be analyzed by\n\nan educational credential evaluation service in accordance with\n\nindustry standards and guidelines and approved by the State\n\nDepartment of Education. The person seeking to have credit granted\n\nfor out-of-country teaching experience shall be responsible for all\n\ncosts of the analysis by a credential evaluation service. The Board\n\nshall accept teaching experience from primary and secondary schools\n\nthat are operated by the United States Department of Defense or are\n\naffiliated with the United States Department of State.\n\nD. For the purpose of state salary increments and retirement,\n\nno teacher shall be granted credit for more than five (5) years of\n\nactive duty in the military service, as defined in Section 17-113 of\n\nthis title, or out-of-state or out-of-country teaching experience as\n\na certified teacher or its equivalent. Nothing in this section\n\nshall prohibit boards of education from crediting more years of\n\nexperience on district salary schedules than those allowed for state\n\npurposes.\n\nE. The State Board of Education shall recognize, for purposes\n\nof certification and salary increments, all the years of experience\n\nof a:\n\n1. Certified teacher who teaches in the educational program of\n\nthe Department of Corrections, beginning with fiscal year 1981;\n\n2. Vocational rehabilitation counselor under the Department of\n\nHuman Services if the counselor was employed as a certified teacher\n\nby the State Department of Education when the Division of Vocational\n\nRehabilitation was transferred from the State Board of Career and\n\nTechnology Education or the State Board of Education to the Oklahoma\n\nPublic Welfare Commission on July 1, 1968;\n\n3. Vocational rehabilitation counselor which were completed\n\nwhile employed by the Department of Human Services if such counselor\n\nwas certified as a teacher or was eligible for certification as a\n\nteacher in this state;\n\n4. Certified teacher which were completed while employed by the\n\nChild Study Center located at University Hospital, if the teacher\n\nwas certified as a teacher in this state; and\n\n5. Certified school psychologist or psychometrist which were\n\ncompleted while employed as a doctoral intern, psychological\n\nassistant, or psychologist with any agency of this state if the\n\nexperience primarily involved work with persons of school- or\n\npreschool-age and if the person was, at the time the experience was\n\nacquired, certified as, or eligible for certification as, a school\n\npsychologist or psychometrist.\n\nF. The provisions of this section shall not apply to teachers\n\nwho have entered into postretirement employment with a public school\n\nin this state and are still receiving a monthly retirement benefit.\n\nG. Persons employed as classroom instructional employees of\n\ntechnology center school districts supervised by the State Board of\n\nCareer and Technology Education shall receive a salary increase\n\namount equal to the amount indicated in subsection A of this section\n\nfor the step level indicated for the person, provided they remain\n\nemployed by the same technology center school district, unless the\n\nhours or the duties of the classroom instructional employees are\n\nreduced proportionately.\n\nH. Persons employed as correctional teachers or vocational\n\ninstructors by the Department of Corrections pursuant to Section\n\n510.6a of Title 57 of the Oklahoma Statutes or persons employed as\n\nteachers by the Office of Juvenile Affairs shall receive a salary\n\nincrease amount equal to the amount indicated in subsection A of\n\nthis section for the step level indicated for the person, provided\ntely.\n\nH. Persons employed as correctional teachers or vocational\n\ninstructors by the Department of Corrections pursuant to Section\n\n510.6a of Title 57 of the Oklahoma Statutes or persons employed as\n\nteachers by the Office of Juvenile Affairs shall receive a salary\n\nincrease amount equal to the amount indicated in subsection A of\n\nthis section for the step level indicated for the person, provided\n\nthey remain employed by the same Department of Corrections or Office\n\nof Juvenile Affairs facility, unless the hours or the duties of the\n\ncorrectional teachers, vocational instructors, or teachers are\n\nreduced proportionately.\n\nI.
