Stat. tit. 70, § 70-18-125","heading":"Incentive grants for small school district to fund","body":"cooperative programs.\n\nRecognizing the needs small school districts have to meet\n\nincreased high school graduation and college admission requirements,\n\nand the difficulty such districts may experience in offering the\n\nnecessary academic courses, the Legislature hereby states its intent\n\nto assist such districts through the creation of incentive grants to\n\nfund cooperative programs. Such grants shall be allocated by the\n\nState Board of Education on a competitive basis to school districts\n\nwith an average daily attendance of eight hundred (800) or less, or\n\nto any school district participating in the East Central Educational\n\nSupport Center, to enter into an agreement with one or more\n\ndistricts of any size or an accredited institution of higher\n\neducation to provide classes in mathematics, science, a foreign\n\nlanguage, computer education, visual arts or music to elementary or\n\nsecondary students. In allocating incentive grants to fund\n\ncooperative programs, the State Department of Education shall give\n\npriority to those programs that emphasize classes required for high\n\nschool graduation and college admission. Funding provided in the\n\ngrants shall be expended for instruction-related personnel,\n\nequipment, transportation, materials and telecommunications,\n\nincluding but not limited to telecommunication equipment,\n\ninstruction and other materials. Funding provided for grants for\n\ntelecommunication shall not exceed fifty percent (50%) of the funds\n\nprovided for all grants specified in this section.
