Stat. tit. 70, § 70-24-105","heading":"Student clubs and organizations – Regulation -","body":"Notifications.\n\nA. The board of education of each school district shall have\n\nfull power and authority to regulate, control or prohibit any\n\nfraternity, sorority, secret society, club or group composed in\n\nwhole or in part of students enrolled in the school district if it\n\ndeems it advisable and in the best interest of the school program to\n\ndo so.\n\nB. Each board of education shall adopt policies and procedures\n\nto annually notify parents or guardians of students about clubs and\n\norganizations sponsored by or under the direction and control of the\n\nschool. The annual notification about clubs and organizations shall\n\nbe by means of the student handbook and by posting on the Internet\n\nwebsite for the school district or if the school district does not\n\nhave an Internet website by another appropriate method. The annual\n\nnotification shall include, but is not limited to, the following\n\ninformation about each club or organization:\n\n1. Name;\n\n2. Mission or purpose; and\n\n3. Name of the faculty advisor, if known.\n\nC. If clubs or organizations are created or formed after the\n\nannual notification is distributed, the school district shall send\n\nadditional notification to the parents or guardians containing\n\ninformation about the additional clubs or organizations consistent\n\nwith the requirements set forth in subsection B of this section.\n\nD. The policy adopted by each board of education shall provide\n\nparents or guardians of students with an opportunity to notify\n\nschool administration that the parent or guardian is withholding\n\npermission for a student to join or participate in one or more clubs\n\nor organizations. The policy shall only apply to participation in\n\nclubs and organizations that are extracurricular and shall not apply\n\nto participation in clubs and organizations that are necessary for a\n\nrequired class of instruction. Parents or guardians shall be\n\nresponsible for preventing their student from participating in a\n\nclub or organization in which permission is withheld. Parents or\n\nguardians shall also be responsible for retrieving their student\n\nfrom attendance at a club or organization in which permission is\n\nwithheld. Nothing in this subsection shall prevent a club or\n\norganization from meeting when a student who is not authorized to be\n\nin the club or organization is present at such meeting.\n\nE. For purposes of this section:\n\n1. “Clubs and organizations” means a club or organization\n\ncomprised of students that is organized and meets for common goals,\n\nobjectives, or purposes, and that is directly under the sponsorship,\n\ndirection, and control of the school; and\n\n2. “Competitive interscholastic activity or event” means\n\nactivities held under the auspices or sponsorship of a school\n\ndistrict that involves students enrolled in that school district\n\ncompeting against individuals or groups of students representing\n\nother school districts.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"507365a0561e432b0d60469d36d0d8bf7fc4eb1729b5531368751fcbb6bcd026","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-24-104.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-24-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
