Stat. tit. 70, § 70-2640","heading":"Oklahoma Health Care Workers and Educators Assistance","body":"Program.\n\nA. There is hereby established the Oklahoma Health Care Workers\n\nand Educators Assistance Program. The purpose of the program shall\n\nbe to encourage persons to enter nursing and allied health careers\n\nwithin this state. Priority in awarding assistance is intended to\n\ngo toward those career fields in which there is an urgent need for\n\nqualified employees to provide health care services or in career\n\nfields in which a shortage of qualified employees is projected to\n\nexist in the future.\n\nB. Only students who are residents of this state shall be\n\neligible to participate in the Oklahoma Health Care Workers and\n\nEducators Assistance Program.\n\nC. Only students of accredited or recognized health care\n\nprograms or colleges and universities shall be eligible for awards\n\nfrom the Oklahoma Health Care Workers and Educators Assistance\n\nProgram.\n\nD. The Oklahoma Health Care Workers and Educators Assistance\n\nProgram shall be administered by the Health Care Workforce Resources\n\nBoard. The Board is authorized to enter into an agreement with the\n\nOklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for fiscal services as\n\nmay be necessary to implement the provisions of this section.\n\nE. The Health Care Workforce Resources Board shall implement\n\nthe provisions of this section in the most balanced, efficient, and\n\neffective means necessary to meet the following priorities:\n\n1. Create additional nursing or allied health faculty by\n\nproviding scholarships to cover individuals’ costs of gaining the\n\nadvanced degrees necessary to serve as faculty members in nursing\n\nand allied health education programs;\n\n2. Expand and modernize learning environments by providing\n\nmatching grants to nursing and allied health education institutions\n\nto increase the number of clinical opportunities, and to better\n\nutilize online and distance learning, simulations, and other\n\ninnovative methods to provide education and training; and\n\n3. Attract more students in nursing and allied health careers\n\nby providing scholarships to cover individuals’ costs of gaining\n\ndegrees or certifications necessary to prepare them for nursing and\n\nallied health occupations.\n\nF. The Board shall make an annual public declaration of which\n\nnursing and allied health care education fields have been identified\n\nfor priority funding due to either an urgent need for qualified\n\nemployees or due to a determination of a future shortage of\n\nqualified employees.\n\nG.
