Stat. tit. 70, § 70-3-155","heading":"Study and assessment of information and reports –","body":"Collection techniques.\n\nA. The State Board of Education shall study and assess ways to\n\neliminate, reduce, consolidate, and simplify the number, type, and\n\nlength of reports, data, statistics, and other information required\n\nof any school district or school district personnel by the Board or\n\nState Department of Education. Subject to the availability of\n\nfunding, the Board is hereby authorized to retain a consultant or\n\nexpert as may be necessary to complete the study. The study shall\n\ninclude the feasibility of coordinating reporting dates and shall\n\nidentify all requirements for maintaining, completing and filing\n\nrecords and reports mandated by law or rule and make recommendations\n\nfor any amendments that may be necessary to the law or rules to\n\nimplement the recommendations reported in the study. In conducting\n\nresearch for the study, the Board shall provide for the input and\n\nparticipation of school districts, school district personnel, and\n\nother educational organizations. By December 31, 2010, the Board\n\nshall issue a preliminary report of any findings and recommendations\n\ncollected prior to that date. The Board shall complete the findings\n\nand recommendations of the study and shall file a final report with\n\nthe Governor, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the\n\nPresident Pro Tempore of the Senate by December 31, 2012.\n\nB. In conducting the study as required in this section, the\n\nBoard may:\n\n1. Survey a sample of classroom teachers from elementary,\n\nmiddle, and high school grades in the public schools in the state to\n\ndetermine the quantity and types of paperwork required from teachers\n\non a daily, weekly, monthly, semester, or annual basis as mandated\n\nby state law or rule;\n\n2. Review efforts being made at the school district level to\n\nreduce the requirements for extraneous paperwork placed on teachers;\n\n3. Collaborate with the United States Department of Education\n\nto standardize all compliance requirements of the federal\n\nIndividuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and review and\n\nsimplify the paperwork established by the United States Department\n\nof Education to verify compliance with IDEA; and\n\n4.
