Within The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, no\n\nfees nor room and board shall be charged to :\n\n1. Children of Oklahoma peace officers as defined by Section\n\n648 of Title 21 of the Oklahoma Statutes who have given their lives\n\nin the line of duty;\n\n2. Children of Oklahoma firefighters who have given their lives\n\nin the line of duty;\n\n3. Children of commissioned members of the Oklahoma Law\n\nEnforcement Retirement System, who have given their lives in the\n\nline of duty; and\n\n4. Children of Oklahoma emergency medical technicians who have\n\ngiven their lives in the line of duty.\n\nB. Such waiver of fees and room and board shall be limited to a\n\nperiod of five (5) years.\n\nC. Such waiver of fees and room and board shall be a service\n\nbenefit of a commissioned member of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement\n\nRetirement System.\n\nD. For purposes of this section:\n\n1. \"Firefighter\" means a volunteer firefighter or a permanent\n\nsalaried professional member of any fire department within the State\n\nof Oklahoma; and\n\n2. \"Emergency medical technician\" means a person volunteering\n\nor employed as an emergency medical technician and who is licensed\n\nas an emergency medical technician pursuant to Section 1-2505 of\n\nTitle 63 of the Oklahoma Statutes.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"4ba7d79a894673807f6b90f1f129cdd83bba8a8fde48e76e9ed41c8981c052f4","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-3218.7","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-3218.7a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
