A private educational institution shall grant only those\n\ndegrees authorized by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher\n\nEducation unless approved otherwise by a national or regional\n\naccrediting agency which is recognized by the Secretary of the\n\nUnited States Department of Education as a reliable authority as to\n\nthe quality of education or training offered by institutions of\n\nhigher education for the purposes of the Higher Education Act of\n\n1965, as amended.\n\nB. 1. This section shall not apply to religious degrees which\n\nare used solely for religious purposes within a religious\n\norganization or any institution of higher education whose primary\n\npurpose is to provide religious training or theological education\n\nand which is exempt from taxation pursuant to the provisions of\n\nSection 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, 26 U.S.C., Section\n\n501(c)(3).\n\n2. Each degree title offered pursuant to this subsection shall\n\ninclude a religious modifier.
