Stat. tit. 70, § 70-4419","heading":"Tulsa Technology Center School District - Board","body":"districts.\n\nA. All of the territory comprising the County of Tulsa, and all\n\nof the territory in adjacent counties comprising a portion of school\n\ndistricts partially located in Tulsa County shall be a technology\n\ncenter school district to be known as the Tulsa Technology Center\n\nSchool District. Territory that is in an existing technology center\n\nschool district shall be exempt from consideration. Provided,\n\nnothing in this section shall prohibit the annexation of territory\n\nin adjacent counties by the Tulsa Technology Center School District\n\nin accordance with rules prescribed by the State Board of Career and\n\nTechnology Education. Provided, further, any such annexation shall\n\nbe approved by the Tulsa Technology Center School Board of Education\n\nprior to such annexation election. The Tulsa Technology Center\n\nSchool District shall have a board of education consisting of seven\n\n(7) members having the same powers and duties as boards of education\n\nof other technology center school districts. The members shall be\n\nelected in the same manner as boards of education of other\n\ntechnology center school districts except as otherwise provided in\n\nthis title. The terms of office of members shall be staggered so\n\nthat the term of office of only one member shall expire each year.\n\nThe offices shall be numbered. The Tulsa Technology Center School\n\nBoard of Education shall divide the territory of the district into\n\nseven board districts in the same manner as required by independent\n\nschool districts. One member of the board of education shall be\n\nelected to represent each board district. Beginning January 1,\n\n1993, the following provisions and the provisions of Section 13A-101\n\net seq. of Title 26 of the Oklahoma Statutes shall control as to\n\nelection of the members of the Tulsa Technology Center School Board\n\nof Education:\n\n1. There shall be held a nomination election in which the\n\nelectors of each board district in which a term is expiring or in\n\nwhich a vacancy exists shall select two nominees from among the\n\ncandidates for board member to represent the board district;\n\n2. If, in the nominating election, one candidate has a majority\n\nof all votes cast, then that candidate shall be elected to represent\n\nthe board district and a general election is not required. If no\n\ncandidate receives a majority of all votes cast, then the two\n\ncandidates receiving the greatest number of votes shall become the\n\nnominees for the board district in the general election; and\n\n3. At the general election, all of the electors of the board\n\ndistrict shall select one of the two nominees as the member of the\n\nboard of education representing the board district.\n\nB. Except as otherwise provided in this section, the election\n\nof the governing board and the operation of the Tulsa Technology\n\nCenter School District shall be in accordance with rules established\n\nby the State Board of Career and Technology Education as provided\n\nfor in Section 9B, Article X of the Oklahoma Constitution.\n\nC. It is hereby provided that not more than five (5) mills on\n\nthe dollar valuation of the taxable property in the district shall\n\nbe voted on or thereafter be levied annually under Section 9B,\n\nArticle X of the Oklahoma Constitution, and the district shall not\n\nbecome indebted for more than three percent (3%) of the net\n\nvaluation of taxable property within the district for capital\n\nimprovements for secondary and adult vocational and technical\n\neducation purposes. Only programs in secondary and adult vocational\n\nand technical education shall be offered by the district.\n\nD. Programs in post-secondary vocational and/or technical\n\neducation shall not be offered or conducted by the Tulsa Technology\n\nCenter School District; provided, however, that nothing in this\n\nsection shall be construed as prohibiting the establishment of an\n\nauthorization to conduct such post-secondary vocational and\nand adult vocational\n\nand technical education shall be offered by the district.\n\nD. Programs in post-secondary vocational and/or technical\n\neducation shall not be offered or conducted by the Tulsa Technology\n\nCenter School District; provided, however, that nothing in this\n\nsection shall be construed as prohibiting the establishment of an\n\nauthorization to conduct such post-secondary vocational and\n\ntechnical programs by legislative enactment creating or establishing\n\nsuch programs within the limits of Section 9B, Article X of the\n\nOklahoma Constitution.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"794bb94e05f037513fc131cf42258f31f343238176cdedb135b7e9d9df1f836b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-4418.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-4420"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
