It is the intent of the Legislature that the Oklahoma State\n\nRegents for Higher Education continue to increase the proportional\n\nrepresentation of ethnic minorities among the academic faculties at\n\nthe individual institutions of The Oklahoma State System of Higher\n\nEducation. Funds shall continue to be made available to the\n\ninstitutions for the first year payment of salary following\n\nemployment of a newly hired tenured or tenure-track minority faculty\n\nmember. It is the intent of the Legislature that these funds be\n\nprovided only for those persons who are hired with the intention of\n\npermanently filling a faculty position which either has become open\n\nor has been created at an institution. Funding for personal\n\nbenefits shall be provided by the employing institution. It is the\n\nfurther intent of the Legislature that special effort continue to be\n\ngiven to recruitment of minorities in those academic fields in which\n\nthey are particularly underrepresented. The State Regents shall\n\nencourage the institutions to continue aggressive recruitment of\n\nminority academic faculty.\n\nB. It is the intent of the Legislature to initiate award and\n\nfellowship opportunities to commend faculty, serving at institutions\n\nof higher education within The Oklahoma State System of Higher\n\nEducation, who have the potential for nationally or internationally\n\nrecognized research or scholarship.\n\nC. It is the intent of the Legislature to raise faculty\n\nsalaries to a nationally competitive level.
