Stat. tit. 70, § 70-5-118","heading":"Meetings of board - Change in date of regular meetings -","body":"Compensation of members of boards of districts with ADA exceeding\n\n15,000.\n\nA. Regular meetings of the board of education of each school\n\ndistrict shall be held upon the first Monday of each month, or upon\n\nsuch day as may be fixed by the board. Special meetings may be held\n\nfrom time to time as circumstances may demand.\n\nB. All meetings of the boards of education shall be public\n\nmeetings, and in all such meetings the vote of each member must be\n\npublicly cast and recorded. Executive sessions will be permitted\n\nonly for the purpose of discussing the employment, hiring,\n\nappointment, promotion, demotion, disciplining, or resignations of\n\nany or all of the employees or volunteers of the school district,\n\nand for the purpose of discussing negotiations concerning employees\n\nand representatives of employee groups, and for the purpose of\n\nhearing evidence and discussing the expulsion or suspension of a\n\nstudent or students only when requested by the student involved or\n\nhis or her parent, attorney, or legal guardian; provided, however,\n\nthat any vote or action thereon must be taken in a public meeting\n\nwith the vote of each member publicly cast and recorded. It is\n\nrequired that the board of education shall provide notice to the\n\nstudent, his or her parent, attorney or legal guardian that said\n\nstudent is entitled to an executive session regarding the discussion\n\nof expulsion or suspension of said student.\n\nC. Any action taken in violation of the provisions of this act\n\nshall be invalid.\n\nD. Each member of the board of education of a school district\n\nwith an average daily attendance exceeding fifteen thousand (15,000)\n\nor a school district where boundaries encompass a total population\n\nexceeding one hundred thousand (100,000) persons according to the\n\nlast preceding Federal Decennial Census may be paid from the\n\ndistrict's general fund a stipend of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00)\n\nfor each regular, special or adjourned meeting of the board of\n\neducation that he or she attends, but not for more than four\n\nmeetings in any calendar month.\n\nE. 1. Unless otherwise provided by law, a board of education\n\nmay submit an Affidavit of Board Action to the State Department of\n\nEducation in lieu of approved board minutes to provide proof of an\n\naction approved or taken at a board meeting. Such affidavit shall\n\nbe signed and sworn by the applicable personnel as provided in\n\nparagraph 2 of this subsection. The State Department of Education\n\nshall accept a signed Affidavit of Board Action as certification\n\nthat the district board has approved or taken a specific action at a\n\nboard meeting. Nothing in this subsection shall exempt a board of\n\neducation from keeping minutes of a meeting in accordance with\n\nSection 312 of Title 25 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\n2. The Affidavit of Board Action described in paragraph 1 of\n\nthis subsection shall include:\n\na. the county or district code,\n\nb. the name of the school district,\n\nc. the date of the board meeting,\n\nd. the agenda item number approved,\n\ne. a summary of the action approved,\n\nf. an affirming signature representing the district from\n\nthe district superintendent or the assistant\n\nsuperintendent, and\n\ng. an affirming signature representing the district board\n\nfrom the board president or chair, or from a board\n\nofficer.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"37e6473aa39a20ccb65bcb36251c849c7a29c0ef3ad958b3044bc02656825570","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-5-117b","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-5-119"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
