Stat. tit. 70, § 70-5-139","heading":"Professional organization dues and political","body":"contributions of employees - Payroll deduction.\n\nSchool districts shall make payroll deductions for either or\n\nboth professional organization dues and political contributions at\n\nthe written request of any school employee and shall transmit\n\ndeducted funds to the organization designated by the school district\n\nemployee. Such deductions shall be on a ten-month basis unless\n\notherwise designated by the employee organization. However, a\n\nschool employee may request at any time in writing, including by\n\nemail or fax, for the school district to immediately terminate or\n\ninitiate payroll deductions to a professional organization. Upon\n\nreceipt of any written request, the school district shall within\n\nfive (5) business days or by the next pay period, whichever is\n\nearlier, terminate or initiate any future payroll deductions of the\n\nrequesting school employee to a professional organization. Upon\n\nreceipt of a written request, the school district shall notify the\n\nprofessional organization of the initiation or termination of\n\npayroll deductions within fifteen (15) business days. If the\n\nrequest is to terminate a deduction, the school district shall not\n\nmake any advance payments to any professional organization of any\n\nfuture dues on behalf of the school employee. No school district\n\npolicy or negotiated agreement shall place any other conditions or\n\nrequirements, including but not limited to personal hand delivery,\n\nupon any employee to initiate or terminate any payroll deduction to\n\na professional organization except for a written request as outlined\n\nin this section. Any school district policy or provision in a\n\nnegotiated agreement that places additional conditions or\n\nrequirements on initiation or termination beyond those outlined in\n\nthis section shall be null and void. A school district which fails\n\nto terminate payroll deductions for an employee in accordance with\n\nthis section shall immediately reimburse the employee the amount of\n\nall payroll deductions made by the school district after the\n\nemployee's request, and the amount due the employee shall double\n\nevery thirty (30) days until paid in full.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"7fb304e85d352a8cfbe6266de18ed8d5173f2c2bf87c534a03879d3f41947ae3","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-5-138","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-5-140"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
