A school district board of education may approve a request\n\nfrom a school district employee for a leave of absence to hold\n\noffice as an officer, director, trustee, or agent of a national,\n\nstatewide, or school district employee association. The employee\n\nrequesting the leave shall provide the school district\n\nsuperintendent with proof of election and proof of the term of\n\noffice for the national, statewide, or school district employee\n\nassociation. Proof of election shall include but not be limited to\n\ncertification by the national, statewide, or school district\n\nemployee association of the date of the election and the results of\n\nthe election. Board of education approval for leave requested\n\npursuant to this section shall have definitive beginning and end\n\ndates.\n\nB. Leave granted pursuant to this section shall be leave\n\nwithout pay. The school employee on leave shall not be entitled to\n\nmaintain any benefits granted by the school district regardless of\n\nwhether the benefit is paid by the employee on leave or the\n\nassociation for which the person is serving as an officer, director,\n\ntrustee, or agent.\n\nC. During the leave period, the school employee's position with\n\nthe school district shall be maintained without advancement on the\n\nminimum salary schedule adopted pursuant to Section 5-141 of Title\n\n70 of the Oklahoma Statutes and with no accrual of sick leave,\n\npersonal business leave, or personal leave. The employee on leave\n\nshall not accumulate service credit within the Teachers' Retirement\n\nSystem of Oklahoma. Following the term of leave granted pursuant to\n\nthe provisions of this section, the employee granted leave may\n\nreturn to his or her former position or a comparable position.\n\nD. A school district employee granted leave pursuant to the\n\nprovisions of this section shall be prohibited from accessing school\n\ndistrict office space.\n\nE.
