As used in this section, \"military-connected student\" means\n\na student enrolled in a public school who is a dependent of a\n\ncurrent or former member of:\n\n1. The United States military;\n\n2. The Oklahoma National Guard; or\n\n3. A reserve force of the United States military.\n\nB. Beginning with the 2022-2023 school year, the State\n\nDepartment of Education shall designate a school district campus as\n\na Purple Star Campus if the campus applies and qualifies for the\n\ndesignation pursuant to this section.\n\nC. To qualify as a Purple Star Campus, a school district or\n\nindividual campus shall:\n\n1. Designate a school employee as a military liaison whose\n\nduties include:\n\na. identifying military-connected students enrolled at\n\nthe campus,\n\nb. serving as the point of contact between the campus and\n\nmilitary-connected students and their families,\n\nc. determining appropriate campus services available to\n\nmilitary-connected students, and\n\nd. assisting in coordinating campus programs relevant to\n\nmilitary-connected students;\n\n2. Maintain on the campus website an easily accessible web page\n\nthat includes resources for military-connected students and their\n\nfamilies including information regarding:\n\na. relocation to, enrollment at, registration at and\n\ntransferring records to the campus,\n\nb. academic planning, course sequences and advanced\n\nclasses available at the campus,\n\nc. counseling and other support services available for\n\nmilitary-connected students enrolled at the campus,\n\nand\n\nd. the military liaison and his or her duties designated\n\npursuant to paragraph 1 of this subsection;\n\n3. Maintain a transition program led by students, where\n\nappropriate, that assists military-connected students in\n\ntransitioning into the campus;\n\n4. Offer professional development for school employees on\n\nissues related to military-connected students; and\n\n5. Offer at least one of the following initiatives:\n\na. a resolution showing support for military-connected\n\nstudents and their families,\n\nb. recognition of the Month of the Military Child or\n\nMilitary Family Month with relevant events hosted by\n\nthe campus, or\n\nc. a partnership with a local military installation that\n\nprovides opportunities for active duty military\n\nmembers to volunteer at the campus, speak at an\n\nassembly or host a field trip.\n\nD.
