Stat. tit. 70, § 70-6-122.7","heading":"Issuance of one-year provisional certificates to teach","body":"in the area of mild-moderate or severe-profound disabilities or\n\ncomprehensive special education.\n\nA. Notwithstanding any other provision of the law, the State\n\nBoard of Education shall issue a one-year provisional certificate to\n\nteach in the area of mild-moderate disabilities, severe-profound\n\ndisabilities or comprehensive special education to any qualified\n\ncandidate who has:\n\n1. Earned a bachelor's level college degree from an accredited\n\ninstitution of higher education;\n\n2. Been recommended for a certificate by a school district\n\nboard of education or an accredited institution of higher education;\n\n3. Satisfactorily completed a one-hundred-fifty-clock-hour\n\nspecial education program prescribed by the Board; and\n\n4. On file with the Board a national criminal history record\n\ncheck as required pursuant to Section 5-142 of this title. The\n\nindividual applying for a provisional certificate shall be\n\nresponsible for the cost of the national criminal history record\n\ncheck.\n\nB. The one-year provisional certificate issued pursuant to this\n\nsection may be renewed for two (2) additional periods of one-year\n\neach upon proof from an accredited institution of higher education\n\nthat the individual has successfully completed at least six (6)\n\ncredit hours of prescribed coursework during the previous year in a\n\nnontraditional route to certification program in either mild-\n\nmoderate or severe-profound disabilities or toward a master's degree\n\nin special education.\n\nC. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Board\n\nof Education shall issue a standard certificate in the area of mild-\n\nmoderate disabilities, severe-profound disabilities or comprehensive\n\nspecial education to any individual who has:\n\n1. Been issued one or more provisional certificates pursuant to\n\nthis section;\n\n2. Successfully completed the prescribed coursework of a\n\nnontraditional route to certification program in either mild-\n\nmoderate or severe-profound disabilities or a master's degree in\n\nspecial education from an accredited institution of higher education\n\nwithin three (3) years of issuance of the original provisional\n\ncertificate and any examinations required to obtain a standard\n\ncertificate in mild-moderate disabilities, severe-profound\n\ndisabilities or comprehensive special education;\n\n3. Successfully completed the appropriate subject area\n\ncompetency examination as required pursuant to Section 6-187 of this\n\ntitle; and\n\n4. Submitted an application and payment of the required\n\ncertification fee.\n\nD. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, an individual\n\nwho holds a current provisional certificate pursuant to subsection A\n\nor B of this section or a current standard certificate pursuant to\n\nsubsection C of this section may satisfy the highly qualified\n\nteacher requirement for early childhood education or elementary\n\neducation by successful completion of the early childhood education\n\nor elementary education examinations.\n\nE. To obtain standard certification in early childhood\n\neducation or elementary education, an individual shall complete an\n\nappropriate teacher education program approved by the Oklahoma\n\nCommission for Teacher Preparation.\n\nF. Nothing in this section shall change the requirements an\n\nindividual is required to satisfy to be considered highly qualified\n\nin a secondary core academic area.\n\nG.
