Stat. tit. 70, § 70-6-122.9","heading":"Issuance of certificates for individuals with","body":"alternative certification to teach in the area of mild-moderate or\n\nsevere-profound disabilities or comprehensive special education.\n\nA. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Board\n\nof Education shall issue a standard certificate in the area of mild-\n\nmoderate disabilities, severe-profound disabilities or comprehensive\n\nspecial education to any individual certified via an alternative\n\ncertification route in early childhood education or elementary\n\neducation who has:\n\n1. Earned a bachelor's level college degree from an accredited\n\ninstitution of higher education;\n\n2. Successfully completed the mild-moderate disabilities,\n\nsevere-profound disabilities or comprehensive special education\n\ncompetency examinations; and\n\n3. Submitted an application and payment of the required\n\ncertification fee.\n\nB. Notwithstanding any other provision of law and with the\n\nexception of paraprofessionals under the Career Development areas,\n\nthe State Board of Education shall issue a standard certificate in\n\nthe area of mild-moderate disabilities, severe-profound disabilities\n\nor comprehensive special education to any individual certified via\n\nan alternative certification route in a core academic area, which\n\nincludes Mathematics, Science, English, Language Arts, History,\n\nForeign Language, Music, Art, Elementary Education and Early\n\nChildhood Education, who has:\n\n1. Earned a bachelor's level college degree from an accredited\n\ninstitution of higher education;\n\n2. Successfully completed the mild-moderate disabilities,\n\nsevere-profound disabilities or comprehensive special education\n\ncompetency examinations; and\n\n3.
