Stat. tit. 70, § 70-6-130","heading":"Minority Teacher Recruitment Center","body":"Recognizing the future significance and challenge of educating a\n\ngrowing and highly diverse student population in Oklahoma common\n\nschools and acknowledging the underrepresentation of minority\n\nteachers among the state's professional education staff, the\n\nOklahoma State Regents for Higher Education shall have authority to\n\nestablish the Minority Teacher Recruitment Center and staff and\n\nadminister its work. Upon recommendations and advice from the\n\nMinority Teacher Recruitment Advisory Committee re-created pursuant\n\nto Section 1 of this act, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher\n\nEducation are hereby directed to work with the State Board of\n\nEducation, the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation and other\n\nagencies, boards and education organizations in the interests of\n\nrecruiting, retaining and placing minority teachers in the public\n\nschools of the State of Oklahoma. Such efforts shall include, but\n\nnot be limited to:\n\n1. The provision and coordination of support services to\n\nteacher training programs in state institutions of higher education,\n\nincluding the funding of grants for campus-based recruitment,\n\nretention and placement programs that assist minority students who\n\nintend to become teachers;\n\n2. The establishment and development of recruiting programs for\n\npotential minority teachers, including pre-collegiate curricular\n\ncourses that emphasize school success and the opportunity to\n\ninvestigate teaching as a career choice, future teacher clubs and\n\ncollegiate programs designed to recruit students making transitions\n\nfrom other careers and other areas of study;\n\n3. The hosting of conferences dealing with issues that effect\n\nminority teacher recruitment, retention, and placement;\n\n4. The creation of activities in the public and private schools\n\nof Oklahoma which enhance the image of the teaching profession; and\n\n5.
