Stat. tit. 70, § 70-6-131","heading":"Teacher recruitment programs","body":"Subject to the availability of funds, the State Department of\n\nEducation and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education,\n\nworking in cooperation, shall:\n\n1. Develop and implement programs to identify talented students\n\nand recruit those students and other persons into the teaching\n\nprofession. Persons targeted for recruitment may include anyone\n\neligible for lawful employment;\n\n2. Develop and distribute materials that emphasize the\n\nimportance of the teaching profession and inform individuals about\n\nstate-funded loan forgiveness and tuition assistance programs;\n\n3. Give priority to developing and implementing recruitment\n\nprograms to address the areas of teacher shortage identified and the\n\nrecommendations made in the educator supply-and-demand study as\n\nrequired by Section 6-211 of Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes. The\n\nDepartment may use discretionary funds to carry out the provisions\n\nof this paragraph;\n\n4. Encourage cooperation between the business community and\n\nschool districts to develop recruitment programs designed to attract\n\nand retain capable teachers, including programs to provide summer\n\nemployment opportunities for teachers; and\n\n5.
