Stat. tit. 70, § 70-6-149.4","heading":"False accusations of criminal activity against","body":"education employees - Penalties.\n\nA. Except as otherwise provided in this section, any person\n\neighteen (18) years of age or older who acts with specific intent in\n\nmaking a false accusation of criminal activity against an education\n\nemployee to law enforcement authorities or school district\n\nofficials, or both, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon\n\nconviction, punished by a fine of not more than Two Thousand Dollars\n\n($2,000.00).\n\nB. Except as otherwise provided in this section, any student\n\nbetween seven (7) years of age and seventeen (17) years of age who\n\nacts with specific intent in making a false accusation of criminal\n\nactivity against an education employee to law enforcement\n\nauthorities or school district officials, or both, shall, upon\n\nconviction, at the discretion of the court, be subject to any of the\n\nfollowing:\n\n1. Community service of a type and for a period of time to be\n\ndetermined by the court; or\n\n2. Any other sanction as the court in its discretion may deem\n\nappropriate.\n\nC. The provisions of this section shall not apply to statements\n\nregarding individuals elected or appointed to an educational entity.\n\nD.
