Subject to the availability of funds, the Oklahoma\n\nCommission for Teacher Preparation shall develop and administer\n\nmathematics professional development programs which will be provided\n\nfor any teacher who became certified to teach in elementary\n\neducation or early childhood education prior to July 1, 2001, and is\n\nserving as a teacher in a public school in this state in\n\nkindergarten through third grade. The purpose of the professional\n\ndevelopment program shall be to improve the knowledge and skills of\n\nthe teachers and to ensure that the elementary grade students of the\n\nstate are taught by professional educators fully prepared in the\n\narea of mathematics.\n\nB. Any professional development program offered to teachers\n\npursuant to the provisions of this section shall:\n\n1. Be scientifically research-based professional development;\n\nand\n\n2. Meet state law requirements for professional development\n\nadministered by the Commission.\n\nC.
