All students graduating from an accredited institution of\n\nhigher education approved or accredited by the Oklahoma Commission\n\nfor Teacher Preparation for the preparation of educational personnel\n\non or after September 1, 1999, and seeking to enter the public\n\neducation system as a teacher shall be subject to the assessment and\n\ncertification procedures established in the Oklahoma Teacher\n\nPreparation Act. Except as provided for in subsection B of this\n\nsection, all students graduating from an accredited institution of\n\nhigher education prior to September 1, 1999, and seeking to enter\n\nthe public education system as a teacher shall be subject to the\n\nassessment and certification requirements in effect before July 1,\n\n1997.\n\nB. Any person who graduates from an accredited institution of\n\nhigher education prior to September 1, 1999, and seeks certification\n\nor endorsement subsequent to September 1, 1999, to teach a subject\n\narea which the teacher was not certified to teach prior to September\n\n1, 1999, following completion of the required higher education shall\n\nbe required to successfully complete the competency examination for\n\nsuch subject area prior to receiving such certification or\n\nendorsement.","path":["OK Code","Title 70"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os70.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"05b89dd4c147436621c26f6492a58a680bdadcdac8eb895ec29cb8dae87cffd5","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-6-196","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-70-70-6-200"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
