The Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation is\n\nauthorized to establish the Inner City Schools Rescue program. The\n\npurpose of the program shall be to recruit and train certified\n\nteachers to work in inner city schools and to provide technical\n\nassistance and support to those teachers who participate in the\n\nprogram and become employed in an inner city school.\n\nB. For purposes of this section, an inner city school shall\n\nmean a school identified as in need of improvement as determined by\n\nthe Commission pursuant to the No Child Left Behind Act or where\n\nninety-five percent (95%) or more of the students enrolled in the\n\nschool qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.\n\nC. To fulfill the objectives of the Inner City Schools Rescue\n\nprogram the Commission shall:\n\n1. Inform teachers of the program;\n\n2. Collect and review applications for the program from\n\ninterested teachers; and\n\n3. Establish an applicant review committee to identify\n\nparticipants for the program.\n\nD. Each year the Commission shall select a certain number of\n\nteachers, as determined by the Commission, who have demonstrated a\n\ncommitment to excellence in teaching and to working with at-risk\n\nstudents in the inner city.\n\nE.
