Stat. tit. 70, § 70-697.1","heading":"Legislative intent","body":"The Legislature recognizes that there is a need to upgrade the\n\navailability of health care services for people of Oklahoma, and\n\nthus, there is a need to improve the balance of health care\n\nworkforce distribution in the state both by type of practice and by\n\ngeographic location. Furthermore, the Legislature recognizes the\n\nneed to accommodate the increasing number of graduates from the\n\nmedical and osteopathic colleges of Oklahoma by retaining their\n\nservices as practicing physicians in the state and by attracting\n\ngraduates from schools outside the state. Therefore, it is the\n\nintent of the Legislature to increase the number of internship and\n\nresidency programs offered for the training of physicians throughout\n\nthe state through the sharing by the state of the costs of such\n\ninternships and residencies with hospitals and other clinical\n\nresidency training establishments.
