In addition to internship and residency programs previously\n\nestablished and funded, it is the intent of the Legislature that the\n\nHealth Care Workforce Training Commission, in cooperation with the\n\nOklahoma Health Care Authority, establish a Critical Need Internship\n\nand Residency Program. The purpose of the Program is to fund\n\ninternship and residency programs across the state in areas of\n\ncritical need. The determination of areas of critical need shall be\n\nmade through a cooperative effort between the University of Oklahoma\n\nCollege of Medicine and the Oklahoma State University College of\n\nOsteopathic Medicine. The findings shall be reported to the\n\nCommission by July 1, 2006, and every three (3) years thereafter.\n\nB. The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and the\n\nOklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine shall\n\nannually provide to the Commission a report outlining the areas of\n\nphysician shortages in each specialty area. The report shall be the\n\nbasis for the cooperative funding of critical need physician\n\nspecialties for the current fiscal year.\n\nC. There is hereby created in the State Treasury a revolving\n\nfund for the Health Care Workforce Training Commission to be\n\ndesignated the \"Critical Need Internship and Residency Fund\". The\n\nfund shall be a continuing fund, not subject to fiscal year\n\nlimitations, and shall consist of all monies received by the Health\n\nCare Workforce Training Commission for funding internship and\n\nresidency programs in areas of critical need. All monies accruing\n\nto the credit of the fund are hereby appropriated and may be\n\nbudgeted and expended by the Health Care Workforce Training\n\nCommission for such costs.
