Stat. tit. 70, § 70-9-106","heading":"Insurance to pay damages - Actions against school","body":"district.\n\nThe board of education of any school district authorized to\n\nfurnish transportation may purchase insurance for the purpose of\n\npaying damages to persons sustaining injuries proximately caused by\n\nthe operation of motor vehicles used in transporting school\n\nchildren. The operation of said vehicles by school districts,\n\nhowever, is hereby declared to be a public governmental function,\n\nand no action for damages shall be brought against a school district\n\nunder the provisions of this section but may be brought against the\n\ninsurer, and the amount of the damages recoverable shall be limited\n\nin amount to that provided in the contract of insurance between the\n\ndistrict and the insurer and shall be collectible from said insurer\n\nonly.
