There is hereby created the “Korean Conflict Medallion\n\nProgram”.\n\nB. The Oklahoma Korean Conflict Medallion award shall consist\n\nof a medallion, medal, and certificate of appreciation. A veteran\n\nshall be eligible for the award if the veteran:\n\n1. Was a resident of Oklahoma at the time of entering the\n\nmilitary service of the United States;\n\n2. Served in active duty in the United States Military at any\n\ntime beginning June 27, 1950, through January 31, 1955; and\n\n3. Was honorably separated or discharged from military service,\n\nstill in active service in an honorable status, or was in active\n\nservice at the time of his or her death.\n\nC. The Oklahoma Korean Conflict Medallion award shall be\n\nawarded regardless of whether or not such veteran served within the\n\nUnited States or in a foreign country. The award shall be awarded\n\nregardless of whether or not such veteran was under eighteen (18)\n\nyears of age at the time of enlistment. For purposes of this\n\nsection, “veteran” means any person defined as a veteran by the\n\nUnited States Department of Veterans Affairs or its successor\n\nagency.\n\nD. The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs shall administer\n\nthe Korean Conflict Medallion Program and set the procedures for\n\nawarding the medallion, medal and certificate.\n\nE. In order to create statewide involvement in the design of\n\nthe award in recognition of this historic endeavor, the Governor\n\nshall solicit potential designs from elementary and secondary\n\nschools, veterans’ groups, and any other interested parties,\n\nprovided any such design shall include the words “Oklahoma Korean\n\nConflict Medallion”. The Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs is\n\nauthorized to expend any monies appropriated to the Oklahoma\n\nDepartment of Veterans Affairs for the cost of such medals,\n\nmedallions and certificates, subject to the availability of the\n\nfunds.","path":["OK Code","Title 72"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os72.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"c41c2947843f164cdb40e25c225f31f34b2a898938bf2eb18c10b566fa2b3a81","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-50.23","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-50.25"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
