The Oklahoma Gold Star Medal shall be awarded to a member of\n\nthe state or federal military forces who voluntarily performed a\n\ndeed of personal bravery or self-sacrifice during combat after\n\nSeptember 11, 2001, that resulted in his or her loss of life.\n\nB. The Oklahoma Gold Star Medal shall be awarded based on the\n\nstandard of extraordinary merit. The medal shall be awarded only on\n\nincontestable proof.\n\nC. To be eligible for the Oklahoma Gold Star Medal, a person\n\nshall have been:\n\n1. Born in this state, a resident of this state on the person's\n\ndeath, or a resident of this state when the person entered military\n\nservice; and\n\n2. Killed in the line of duty in a combat zone or died of\n\nwounds inflicted in a combat zone.\n\nD. A person shall not be ineligible for the Oklahoma Gold Star\n\nMedal because the person received any other medal or award for\n\nmilitary service, including a medal or award made by the United\n\nStates.\n\nE. To receive the Oklahoma Gold Star Medal, a person shall be\n\nnominated by a member of the Oklahoma Legislature and approved by\n\nthe Adjutant General.\n\nF. Pursuant to Section 192 of Title 44 of the Oklahoma\n\nStatutes, the Adjutant General shall design the medallion and ribbon\n\nfor the Oklahoma Gold Star Medal and shall be responsible for\n\nawarding the medal to persons who have been approved by the Adjutant\n\nGeneral pursuant to subsection E of this section.","path":["OK Code","Title 72"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os72.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cd9b26100a59c724260815658018f0acebc09e045a0375622a3fd0737d722e1d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-50.25","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
