Stat. tit. 72, § 72-63.3","heading":"Powers and duties of Commission - Travel expenses","body":"The Oklahoma Veterans Commission shall perform all acts\n\nnecessary or proper to afford emergency, temporary and permanent\n\nrelief and assistance to all honorably discharged ex-service persons\n\nof all wars of the United States of America and to their dependents,\n\nand shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by law.\n\nThe Commission shall promulgate rules and regulations, in accordance\n\nwith the Administrative Procedures Act, for the operation and\n\nmaintenance of the Department of Veterans Affairs; provided,\n\nhowever, in all cases priority and preference shall always be given\n\nto disabled or diseased ex-service persons. The members of the\n\nCommission shall be reimbursed for necessary travel as provided in\n\nthe State Travel Reimbursement Act. In addition to its other powers\n\nand duties as herein provided, the Commission shall have the\n\nfollowing specific powers and duties which shall, however, not be\n\ndeemed to be exclusive:\n\n1. To organize itself by the election of a Chairman, Vice\n\nChairman and Secretary, who shall perform the duties required of\n\nthem by the rules and regulations, but shall receive no extra\n\ncompensation therefor, and to provide for the time and place of\n\nmeetings of the Commission;\n\n2. To appoint the Director of the Department of Veterans\n\nAffairs and provide for the employment of all such other personnel\n\nas may be necessary to carry out the provisions of Sections 63.1\n\nthrough 63.4 of this title, and any other duties prescribed by law.\n\nThe salary and tenure of the Director of the Department shall be\n\ndetermined by the Commission; and\n\n3.
