Effective July 1, 1994, unclassified Department of Veterans\n\nAffairs' employees who were transferred from the Department of Human\n\nServices to the Department of Veterans Affairs on July 1, 1991,\n\npursuant to Section 63.18 of this title, shall become permanent\n\nclassified employees and subject to the provisions of the Merit\n\nSystem of Personnel Administration pursuant to Section 840.13 of\n\nTitle 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes without regard to qualifications\n\nor examinations. Such employees shall be granted permanent status\n\nin the class to which the position occupied by the employee on the\n\neffective date of this act is allocated by the Office of Personnel\n\nManagement. This section shall not apply to employees who are in\n\nthe unclassified service pursuant to Section 63.18A of this title\n\nand Sections 840.8 and 840.10 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes.\n\nB. Except as provided in Sections 63.9 and 63.18A of this title\n\nand Sections 840.8 and 840.10 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes,\n\nall officers, positions and employees of the Department of Veterans\n\nAffairs and its constituent institutions shall be subject to the\n\nprovisions of the Merit System of Personnel Administration as\n\ncreated by the Oklahoma Personnel Act, Section 840.1 et seq. of\n\nTitle 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes and the rules promulgated\n\nthereunder.\n\nC. Nothing contained herein shall prevent the Department of\n\nVeterans Affairs from utilizing its authority to appoint or retain\n\nemployees in the unclassified service pursuant to Sections 63.9 and\n\n63.18A of this title and Sections 840.8 and 840.10 of Title 74 of\n\nthe Oklahoma Statutes which are not in direct conflict with this\n\nsection.","path":["OK Code","Title 72"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os72.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ef22c6a2392a4bfcd93ee05f7d298aac67ac856143eef494804508444f3a31c8","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-63.7","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-72-72-63.8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
