The Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation\n\nis hereby authorized to appoint, with the approval of the Oklahoma\n\nState Bureau of Investigation Commission, special officers that\n\nshall have enforcement authority related to the investigation of oil\n\nand gas industry crimes, which shall include the larceny of\n\nequipment, property, supplies or products. The number of special\n\nofficers shall not exceed twenty (20) positions and those special\n\nofficers shall not be salaried employees of the Bureau, but shall at\n\nall times be subject to the orders and directions of the Director.\n\nIn addition, the special officers shall not have authority to\n\nenforce any laws except the provisions of the Oklahoma Statutes\n\nrelating directly to oil and gas industry crimes, for which they\n\nwill have the same authority as any other peace officer. The\n\nspecial officers shall be known as Special Investigators.\n\nB. Special Investigators shall not receive any compensation or\n\nexpenses from this state or any of its departments, agencies or\n\nsubdivisions for their services. Before the issuance of a special\n\ncommission, each Special Investigator shall enter into a good and\n\nsufficient bond executed by a surety company authorized to do\n\nbusiness in this state in the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars\n\n($500,000.00). The bond shall also be approved by the Director and\n\nshall indemnify all persons against damages accruing as a result of\n\nany illegal or unlawful acts on the part of the Special\n\nInvestigators. The special commissions shall expire on January 1 of\n\nthe odd-numbered year after the appointment.
