Stat. tit. 74, § 74-150.7","heading":"Director - Powers and duties","body":"The Director of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation shall\n\nhave the following powers, duties and responsibilities:\n\n1. To appoint or dismiss a Deputy Director to assist in the\n\nadministration of the Bureau;\n\n2. To supervise the maintaining of all reports and records of\n\nthe Bureau and to promulgate administrative rules concerning the\n\ndestruction and retention of such records. Such records shall not\n\nbe transferred to the custody or control of the Archives and Records\n\nCommission or be subject to the provisions of Section 590 of Title\n\n21 of the Oklahoma Statutes. The Director may, pursuant to adopted\n\nand promulgated administrative rule, order destruction of records\n\ndeemed to be no longer of value to the Bureau, excluding\n\ncriminalistic and investigative records which shall forever be kept\n\nand maintained;\n\n3. To report to the Commission at each regular meeting, or as\n\ndirected by the Commission, the current workload of the Bureau.\n\nSuch reports shall be submitted by category of the persons or\n\nentities authorized to initiate investigations as provided for in\n\nsubsection A of Section 150.5 of this title, and any other category\n\nthe Commission may request which does not violate the\n\nconfidentiality restrictions imposed in Sections 150.1 through 152.9\n\nof this title. Such reports shall contain the following\n\ninformation:\n\na. what types of investigations are pending,\n\nb. what new types of investigations have been opened,\n\nc. what types of investigations have been closed, and\n\nd. what criminal charges have been filed as a result of\n\nBureau investigations.\n\nThe reports shall not contain any information on the individual\n\nsubjects of the investigation or persons questioned in connection\n\nwith an investigation. These reports shall be open for public\n\ninspection;\n\n4. To designate positions, appoint employees and fix salaries\n\nof the Bureau, other than the salaries established by subsection A\n\nof Section 150.6a of this title, and to authorize the payment of\n\nnecessary certification expenses for the employees;\n\n5. To authorize the purchase and issuance of uniforms for all\n\nlaw enforcement officers, criminalists, and other personnel of the\n\nBureau as designated by the Director and to purchase and issue\n\nnecessary equipment for all employees of the Bureau. All uniforms\n\nand equipment shall be used only in the performance of the official\n\nduties of the officers, criminalists or other personnel and shall\n\nremain the property of the Bureau except as otherwise provided by\n\nlaw;\n\n6. To enter into local cooperative agreements with local law\n\nenforcement agencies for the purpose of appointing affiliate task\n\nforce agents to assist the Bureau in the investigation of major\n\ncrimes under the jurisdiction of the Bureau. Affiliate task force\n\nagents shall be employees and commissioned law enforcement officers\n\nof the local law enforcement agency entering into agreement with the\n\nBureau and shall not be employees of the Bureau. Affiliate task\n\nforce agents shall have general peace officer powers and the\n\nauthority to arrest persons throughout the state while serving as an\n\naffiliate task force agent. Affiliate task force agents serve\n\nsolely at the discretion and will of the Director. The Director may\n\nrenew, suspend, or revoke any agreement appointing an affiliate task\n\nforce agent at any time; and\n\n7. To enter into interagency transfers with the Oklahoma\n\nHighway Patrol, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs\n\nand the Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverages Laws Enforcement Commission as\n\nprovided for in Section 1 of this act.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"ce7829758de293ab2a2fa5cfb4ec19211894833a80a03d977ddfee3968db3a04","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-150.6a","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-150.7a"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
