On written request to any insurer by an authorized\n\ngovernmental agency, the insurer or an agent authorized by an\n\ninsurer to act on its behalf shall release to the authorized\n\ngovernmental agency any relevant information that the authorized\n\ngovernmental agency requests and that the insurer has relating to\n\nany specific motor vehicle theft or motor vehicle insurance fraud.\n\nRelevant information shall include but not be limited to:\n\n1. Insurance policy information relevant to the specific motor\n\nvehicle theft or motor vehicle insurance fraud under investigation,\n\nincluding any application for the policy;\n\n2. Policy premium payment records that are available;\n\n3. History of previous comprehensive and collision claims made\n\nby the insured;\n\n4. Information relating to the investigation of the motor\n\nvehicle theft or motor vehicle insurance fraud, including statements\n\nof any person, proofs of loss, and notice of loss; and\n\n5. Information on payment of claims for motor vehicles which\n\nare so damaged that the vehicle cannot be repaired or rebuilt.\n\nB. An insurer or an agent authorized by an insurer to act on\n\nits behalf shall notify the authorized governmental agency if the\n\ninsurer or agent:\n\n1. Knows the identity of a person whom the insurer or agent has\n\nreason to believe committed a criminal or fraudulent act relating to\n\na motor vehicle theft or motor vehicle insurance claim; or\n\n2. Has knowledge of a criminal fraudulent act relating to a\n\nmotor vehicle theft or motor vehicle insurance claim that is\n\nreasonably believed not to have been reported to an authorized\n\ngovernmental agency; or\n\n3. Has a claim for a motor vehicle which is so damaged that the\n\nvehicle cannot be repaired or rebuilt.\n\nC.
