Stat. tit. 74, § 74-1735.1","heading":"Education and training programs - Repayment","body":"Beginning November 1, 2013, the Oklahoma Department of Veterans\n\nAffairs is authorized to establish education and training programs\n\nfor positions critical to the quality care of veterans residing\n\nwithin Department institutions. The Department may contract with\n\naccredited institutions necessary to provide this education and\n\ntraining. Funds of the Department or its institutions may be used\n\nto pay salaries or tuition and subsistence for employees in these\n\ntraining programs, pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 2 of this\n\nsection. Employees may be in work status while engaging in training\n\nand education programs provided for in this section.\n\n1. An employee of the Department, who has achieved a \"meets\" or\n\n\"exceeds\" standards on his or her performance evaluation and meets\n\nthe standards as established in rules promulgated pursuant to this\n\nact, shall be eligible for additional education and/or training\n\nprovided by the Department.\n\n2. An employee of the Department who participates in the\n\neducation and training program outlined in this act shall execute a\n\npromissory note for expenses payable to the Department whereby the\n\nemployee promises to repay the note by remaining in employment with\n\nthe Department. The duration of the loan repayment will correspond\n\nwith the program in which the employee participated as set forth in\n\nrules promulgated for the implementation of this act.\n\na. The amount due pursuant to this act shall be reduced\n\nat a rate of Thirteen Dollars ($13.00) per calendar\n\nday beginning the first day after graduation from the\n\neducation or training program. If for any reason the\n\nemployee leaves the employment of the Department, the\n\nobligation will be considered due.\n\nb. Violation of the provisions of the terms of the\n\npromissory note for training expenses entered into\n\npursuant to this section shall give rise to a cause of\n\naction and suit may be commenced by the Department for\n\nand on behalf of the State of Oklahoma for restitution\n\nof any and all sums plus interest at the statutory\n\nrate, costs, and reasonable attorney fees.
