Stat. tit. 74, § 74-174","heading":"Investigation of state eleemosynary institutions","body":"At the request of the Governor, or with his sanction, the State\n\nDepartment of Public Welfare shall investigate any state\n\neleemosynary institution against which complaint is made, and the\n\nDepartment of Public Welfare shall have the power to summon any\n\nperson to appear and produce such books and papers as shall be\n\ndesignated in the summons and to take testimony under oath\n\nconcerning the matter and institution under investigation. The\n\nDepartment shall have the power to administer oaths to such persons\n\nas may be summoned and to enforce such powers as are given to\n\nnotaries public when they are taking depositions.
