Stat. tit. 74, § 74-20k-1A","heading":"Short title — Oklahoma Sheriff's Office Funding","body":"Assistance Grant Program Act of 2024 — Definitions — Purpose.\n\nA. This act shall be known and may be cited as the \"Oklahoma\n\nSheriff's Office Funding Assistance Grant Program Act of 2024\".\n\nB. There is hereby established the Oklahoma Sheriff's Office\n\nFunding Assistance Grant Program.\n\nC. As used in the Oklahoma Sheriff's Office Funding Assistance\n\nGrant Program Act of 2024:\n\n1. \"Gross assessed total tangible property valuation\" means the\n\namount determined pursuant to the calculation provided in Section\n\n180.59 of Title 19 of the Oklahoma Statutes;\n\n2. \"Grant\" means an amount authorized to be awarded under the\n\nprovisions of this section; and\n\n3. \"Qualified county\" means any county recognized as a county\n\nof this state as of the effective date of this act.\n\nD. The Office of Attorney General shall establish and\n\nadminister the Oklahoma Sheriff's Office Funding Assistance Grant\n\nProgram to support the state purpose of ensuring professional law\n\nenforcement throughout the state by providing financial assistance\n\nto sheriff's offices in qualified counties. Such program shall\n\nembody the following procedures and criteria:\n\n1. Not later than the thirtieth day after the first day of a\n\nqualified county's fiscal year, the county may submit an application\n\nfor a grant to the Office of the Attorney General. A county may\n\nsubmit only one application each fiscal year;\n\n2. Grants awarded under the provisions of this section shall be\n\nto qualified counties in the following amounts, or in proportionally\n\nequivalent reduced amounts if available funding for the program is\n\nlimited:\n\na. One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00) for a\n\ncounty in the lower twenty-six (26) of qualified\n\ncounties ranked by gross assessed total tangible\n\nproperty valuation,\n\nb. Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) for a\n\ncounty ranked higher than twenty-six (26) but lower\n\nthan fifty-three (53) of qualified counties ranked by\n\ngross assessed total tangible property valuation, and\n\nc. Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) for a\n\ncounty ranked equal to or greater than fifty-three\n\n(53) of qualified counties ranked by gross assessed\n\ntotal tangible property valuation.\n\nE. Counties awarded a grant from the program shall limit use of\n\nthe grant proceeds to the lawful operation of the sheriff's office,\n\nprovided such proceeds shall not be used for the payment of salary.\n\nF. Until the completion of the fiscal year ending June 30,\n\n2026, no county shall reduce or supplant existing funding or the\n\ncounty's methodology for allocating funds to a county sheriff's\n\noffice due to the award of grant funding as provided under the\n\nprovisions of this section.\n\nG.
